Respiratory Testing Solutions

Identify eight major respiratory viruses in 15 minutes from direct patient specimen or incubated tissue cultures. Results of early detection (many results in 24 hours and all results in less than 48 hours from collection to result) are essential for specific patient therapy decisions. Patients presenting with “flu-like symptoms” may have viral infections other than influenza. D³ DFA Respiratory Virus Kits can rule in or rule out all eight major pathogens or identify any one of eight viruses using highly sensitive and specific reagents in a single 15-minute incubation step.

Thyroid Testing Solutions

A genetically engineered cell line for the specific detection of TSI. Thyretain utilizes a Chinese hamster ovary cell line engineered to express chimeric human TSH receptors and a cAMPinduced luciferase reporter gene (CHO Mc4). The specificity and simplicity of Thyretain allows the user to generate fast, reliable results.

Herpes Family Testing Solutions

Diagnostic Hybrids’ herpes family testing solutions allow laboratories to detect and identify herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus, and cytomegalovirus using two proprietary technologies. With D³ fluorescent monoclonal antibodies, laboratories can provide accurate herpes family staining results in 15 minutes from incubated tissue cultures, while the patented ELVIS HSV system reduces cell culture time for positive and negative HSV-1 and HSV-2 results to 17 hours from cell inoculation. Detection and typing options are available in both technologies, and can be customized to individual laboratory needs.

Enterovirus Testing Solutions

Rapid isolation and identification of Enterovirus infections is essential for proper patient management.  Diagnostic HYBRIDS has used its MixedCells^TM technology to combine an engineered BGMK cell line containing hDAF (human Decay Acceleration Factor, a cellular receptor for multiple Enteroviruses) with A549 cells to allow a broad range of Enterovirus isolates to grow in a reduced time frame compared to traditional tube culture isolation.  Positive results are generally evident in one to three days after inoculation.

Chlamydia Testing Solutions

When only a cell culture will do, conveniently screen for Chlamydia with McCoy ReadyCells®, McCoy FreshCells or BGMK FreshCells and the D³ DFA Chlamydiae Culture Confirmation Kit. With frozen ReadyCells technology, the complete Chlamydia testing system can be used to reliably detect Chlamydia from a variety of body sites such as genital, conjunctiva and respiratory specimens in low-volume applications. Results available as early as 40 hours with Gold Standard accuracy. ReadyCells are stable at -70°C or lower.  

Cell Lines

Diagnostic Hybrids offers many conventional, single monolayer cell line products for use in diagnosing and detecting viruses that cause human illness. FreshCells(TM) Singles are available in tube format for conventional culture, and shell vial or cluster plates for centrifugation enhancement and rapid detection of viruses. FreshCells Singles are also available with a variety of cell types in different flask sizes.

C. Difficile Toxin

Cytotoxin (Toxin B), produced by toxigenic strains of C. difficile, is a sensitive indicator of pathogenicity of this anerobic bacterium. C. difficile causes pseudomembranous colitis and severe diarrhea on patients on various antibiotics or who are otherwise compromised when normal bacterial fecal flora are reduced. Early detection can help establish needed therapeutic measures to improve patient health and prevent serious sequelae.

Flocked Swabs & UTM

Specimen quality has always been a concern for Virology Laboratories performing cell culture. The new Flocked Swabs and UTM combination optimizes both the collection and transport of these critical specimens. Flocked Swabs assure the highest quality specimen is obtained from the patient, and UTM transports it to the testing laboratory with minimal loss of viability.

Media and Supplements

Diagnostic HYBRIDS offers several media products including Prepared Media, Salt Solutions, Antibiotic Solutions, and Trypsin Solutions. The prepared media can be used in our cell-based systems.
